Role Description

We are in search of a dedicated and innovative Outpatient Physical Therapist to become a vital part of our interdisciplinary team at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. In this role, you will engage in direct one-on-one treatments for 60 minutes, collaborating with a skilled team of Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. This position offers an opportunity to thrive in a nurturing environment that appreciates your expertise and commitment. Our outpatient clinic is well-regarded for its comprehensive services and patient-centered philosophy, catering to a diverse patient demographic and providing specialized treatments in various areas including orthopedics, neurology, lymphedema, vestibular therapy, pelvic floor therapy, and driving evaluations. While advanced certifications such as dry needling, NCS, OCS, and GCS are preferred, they are not mandatory.

  • Conducts thorough evaluations and assessments, delivering physical therapy treatments and education tailored to the unique needs of seriously ill patients or those with complex medical conditions, all within a collaborative environment.
  • Aids in supervising staff and students, as well as developing in-service training programs for ongoing staff development.
  • Provides ongoing guidance and instruction to ensure smooth operations while supervising students and support staff.
  • Maintains regular communication with the patient care team, patients, family members, and others involved in the patient's care.
  • Assesses and assists staff in evaluating complex patient cases and challenges.
  • May be expected to assist the department with peer reviews.
  • Instructs and educates patients and families regarding essential aspects of care.
  • Plans, develops, and implements effective treatment plans that are responsive to individual patient needs, incorporating clear and measurable goals.
  • Delivers direct patient care, performing specialized treatments in accordance with the individualized care plan.
  • Collaborates with other members of the patient care team and utilizes community resources to ensure continued care and support for patients post-discharge.
  • Conducts in-service programs and provides training to staff in areas of expertise, serving as a clinical instructor for students.
  • Offers consultation related to clinical management to the professional community and the broader community.
  • Responds to inquiries for professional information or advice, referring more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Participates in committees focused on patient care matters or other committees as requested by the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a physical therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
  • Licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Georgia.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a physical therapist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association is required.
