Teaching Opportunity at New Story School

New Story School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our team in Columbus, OH. As a Teacher, you will play a vital role in managing all functions within your assigned classrooms, including service delivery, reporting, and management of classroom assistants and aides.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students, ensuring their unique needs are met.
  • Record and analyze student data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions.
  • Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that supplement the curriculum, promoting student growth and development.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching methods and strategies to support student learning.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students, promoting academic and behavioral growth.
  • Monitor students at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Develop and implement behavior plans, using approved strategies to support student behavior.
  • Attend regular staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices.
  • Assess student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, keeping them informed of their child's progress.
  • Directly manage and train classroom assistants and aides, ensuring they are equipped to support student learning.
  • Conduct performance reviews of classroom assistants and aides, providing feedback and guidance.
  • Oversee and train classroom assistants and aides in curriculum and behavioral techniques, ensuring they are equipped to support student learning.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned, maintaining a neat and organized classroom environment.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
  • Ability to perform non-violent crisis intervention techniques, including verbal and physical redirection and guidance of potentially physically aggressive students.
  • Ability to react quickly and be sufficiently mobile to redirect students who could be injurious to themselves or others.
  • Ability to physically assist with evacuating students during emergency situations.
  • Ability to earn and maintain full certification in assigned crisis management programs.
