Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Tutor, Advanced to join our team at San Diego City College. As a key member of our academic support team, you will provide expert tutoring services to students, helping them achieve academic success and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and group tutoring services to students in a variety of subjects, including homework assistance, problem-solving, and test preparation.
  • Develop and implement tutorial programs that cater to the diverse needs of students, including those with learning difficulties or English language proficiency.
  • Collaborate with instructors and educational departments to ensure seamless integration of tutoring services with course curricula.
  • Maintain accurate records and data to monitor student progress and assess the effectiveness of tutoring services.
  • Stay up-to-date with curriculum changes and developments in academic disciplines to provide the most relevant and effective support to students.
Requirements
  • College-level coursework with a minimum 3.0 GPA in the assigned discipline.
  • Proven tutoring experience and subject matter expertise, including completion of Education 100 and a minimum of one semester as a senior tutor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, instructors, and staff.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse needs and backgrounds of community college students.

SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT:
Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);
Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district's expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment); AND
Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
