About the Position

Potomac Healthcare Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Certified Athletic Trainer to join our team at Longwood University. As a key member of our healthcare services company, you will be responsible for providing top-notch medical care to our student-athletes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of Certified Athletic Trainer duties, adhering to guidelines established by the National Athletic Trainers Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
  • Evaluate and treat injuries and illnesses to Longwood student-athletes, documenting all treatments and rehabilitation plans.
  • Provide medical coverage during athletic events, practices, and travel with teams, ensuring the health and welfare of our student-athletes.
  • Refer injured or ill athletes to team physicians or consultants as needed, communicating effectively with coaches and student-athletes regarding injuries and playing status.
  • Counsel and advise student-athletes and coaches on health, conditioning, illness, or injury, applying appropriate protective measures and rehabilitation plans.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Physiology, Athletic Training, Biomechanics/Movement Science, or a related field.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Graduation from a CAATE Accredited Program required.
  • BOC Certification as an Athletic Trainer required.
  • Eligibility for Virginia State Licensure required.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification for the Professional Rescuer.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED instructor certification preferred.
  • Experience as a college athletic trainer preferred (1-2 years' experience).
  • Must be a US Citizen.
