Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with building and grounds maintenance work, including repairs, renovations, and upkeep of facilities.
  • Operate light automotive or power equipment, such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and blowers, to maintain grounds and facilities.
  • Perform litter control duties, including picking up trash and debris from public areas.
  • Assist in the propagating, planting, cultivating, watering, and spraying of flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees, and turf areas.
  • Cut, prune, and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, rake leaves, and remove fallen limbs and trash.
  • Perform custodial and maintenance tasks for recreational facilities, including cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking supplies.
  • Enter hours worked into computer software daily.

Requirements

  • Some knowledge of the tools, materials, and equipment used in horticulture and standard building trades.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to use common hand tools and operate machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to work holidays, weekends, evenings, mornings, or as needed.

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade and some experience in grounds work.
