Job Summary and Qualifications
The CVOR Registered Nurse will deliver professional surgical nursing care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and collaborating with the heart team, including physicians, to ensure high-quality healthcare.

The Operating Room Nurse is responsible for maintaining effective communication with surgical technologists, fellow Registered Nurses, surgeons, patients, and their families, as well as other surgical team members.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in emergency and elective surgical procedures.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to guarantee optimal patient care.
  • Act as a liaison between the surgical team and patients' families.
  • Organize necessary supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Conduct patient assessments before, during, and after surgery while ensuring a sterile environment.
  • Perform count procedures to prevent unintended retained foreign objects and ensure correct site procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain patients' physiological systems and balances throughout the surgical process.
  • Administer medications per physician orders.
  • Engage patients or their designated support persons in post-operative care decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the practicing state or an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in CVOR nursing is required.
