District Nursing Director

Responsibilities:
- Oversight of administrative and clinical tasks for the Division, including health center operations, infectious disease, clinical services, and laboratory services.
- Assuring that public health care services are adequate, appropriate, and accessible.
- Maintaining awareness of advances in medicine/public health, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance charges, and financing options.
- Overseeing the planning, development, scheduling, and implementation of health care programs and activities.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of services and programs.
- Interviewing, hiring, directing, training, evaluating the performance of, and when necessary, disciplining and discharging health care employees.
- Responsible for the development and administration of budgets.
- Developing long and short-term goals for the Division of Clinical Services and participating in the agency's strategic and operational planning.
- Developing policies and plans based on data collection, activity reports, planning documents, program plans and objectives.
- Planning and organizing program structure and policies to meet organizational and programmatic objectives.
- Planning, organizing, and directing the work of the Division to provide continuous active treatment to the patients served.
- Setting priorities and implementing goals and objectives to meet or resolve identified health problems and to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Representing the District Health Director for clinical, programmatic, and administrative matters as required, in the event he/she is unavailable.
- Serving as a liaison between the Board of Health and the Department of Public Health by attending state, regional, and local meetings and participating on various committees and coalitions.
- Participating in Emergency Preparedness, Planning and Response as required by the agency.
- Master's degree in nursing, nursing administration, public health or directly related field from an accredited college or university.
- Six years in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
- Current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Masters and Doctoral level nurses or nurse practitioners with experience in public health nursing.
- Applicants who possess professional experience with electronic medical record systems, quality improvement training and implementation.
- Five or more years of administrative and management experience (i.e. staff supervision, budget management and performance management) is preferred.
