Research Associate – Epigenetic Mechanisms in Cancer Immunology
2 months ago
The Keith Syson Chan laboratory offers a collaborative and nurturing research atmosphere for aspiring scientists. We are in search of a driven and goal-oriented research associate with a keen interest in exploring the epigenetic mechanisms that influence the immune tumor microenvironment and its role in cancer therapy responses.
Research Focus:
Our lab has developed innovative tumor models that simulate both immunologically active and inactive tumors, utilizing single-cell RNA sequencing to analyze their varied responses to treatment strategies. These foundational models and datasets will serve as the basis for in-depth experimental research.
Facilities and Resources:
We are equipped with state-of-the-art flow cytometry systems, spatial biology technologies (including 10X Xenium and Akoya PhenoCycler), and proteomics capabilities. Our laboratory is well-funded, allowing for the integration of omics data with functional assays to advance our research objectives.
Candidate Profile:
We encourage candidates to bring their unique ideas and perspectives. Applicants with a minimum of one first-author publication and expertise in epigenetics or related fields are particularly encouraged to apply. Relevant areas of expertise include:
1. Epigenetic regulation and chromatin dynamics
2. Cancer immunology and the immune tumor microenvironment
3. Immunometabolism
4. Molecular biology related to cell death mechanisms (ferroptosis, necroptosis, pyroptosis, inflammasome biology)
5. Mechanisms of immune evasion and checkpoint blockade resistance
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with the Principal Investigator to maintain laboratory operations and promote a positive team environment.
- Engage in effective communication and data reporting within the department.
- Contribute to enhancing employee engagement and accountability.
Research Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement research methodologies.
- Document findings and prepare reports for publication in scientific journals.
Quality and Safety:
- Adhere to safety protocols and report any hazards.
- Assist in implementing departmental safety initiatives and standards.
Professional Development:
- Participate in research activities and evidence-based practice projects.
- Seek opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Relevant postdoctoral experience is preferred.
