Culinary Specialist

As a Culinary Specialist at HILLCREST EXTENDED CARE SERVICES, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals to our residents. Your expertise in food preparation and kitchen management will contribute to a nurturing and safe dining experience.

• Food Preparation: Skillfully prepares and portions a variety of food items while adhering to the highest standards of quality.
• Storage Management: Efficiently wraps, labels, and dates prepared food items for optimal storage.
• Inventory Control: Receives, stores, and rotates supplies upon delivery to maintain freshness.
• Menu Execution: Prepares meals according to established menus, ensuring consistency and satisfaction.
• Food Safety: Conducts daily checks of food storage areas to guarantee proper food rotation and safety compliance.
• Equipment Maintenance: Utilizes and maintains cooking and food preparation equipment in a clean and safe manner.
• Team Leadership: Guides, motivates, and evaluates kitchen staff in line with established standards to foster an efficient work environment.
• Sanitation Duties: Upholds general and assigned sanitation responsibilities in kitchen and dining areas, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Maintains effective communication with other departments to ensure seamless food service.
• Confidentiality: Respects and maintains the confidentiality of all resident information.
• Incident Reporting: Reports any exposure to hazardous materials or situations to the Director of Food & Nutrition Services.
• Regulatory Compliance: Prepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies.
• Professional Conduct: Exhibits a courteous and responsible demeanor towards staff, residents, and visitors.
• Teamwork: Collaborates effectively with team members to create a supportive work environment.
• Independence: Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously while maintaining high standards.
• Communication Skills: Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication.
• Safety Compliance: Performs all responsibilities in alignment with safety and infection control policies.

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Prior experience in food preparation within a long-term care environment is preferred.
• Completion of Serve Safe and allergen training is required.

Compensation: Salary range is $20-$24.
