Job Summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary Guidance Counselor to join our team. As a Guidance Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping students discover and develop their best talents for personal happiness and social usefulness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement a process to help students identify and develop their strengths and interests.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement guidance programs to promote social-emotional learning, academic achievement, and career development.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students, addressing issues such as academic struggles, social relationships, and personal concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and successful school experience.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Florida certification in Guidance and Counseling.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use educational software and technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with elementary students and their families.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning theories.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Working Conditions

The Elementary Guidance Counselor will work in a fast-paced school environment, interacting with students, staff, and parents on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly and respectfully, and maintain confidentiality when necessary.
