The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Tax Managing Director to lead our fast-growing High Net Worth/Private Client Service Practice for the New England business unit. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to co-lead our practice and work closely with clients and family office personnel to ensure timely and effective service delivery.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Lead engagement teams and directly interact with clients and family office personnel to ensure communication and coordination of timely service
  • Develop, nurture, and manage client relationships by consistently providing clients timely and appropriate communication and services in relation to their needs
  • Be viewed as a trusted personal and business advisor by clients
  • Direct multiple engagements, including consulting, compliance, and tax planning services
  • Consult with client service teams to design, communicate, and implement innovative planning ideas for clients
  • Guide and manage IRS and state audits
  • Participate in new business development activities, including prospecting, networking, and representing CBIZ at industry and related events
  • Design and deliver technical training on individual-related tax topics
  • Recruit, supervise, train, develop, and motivate less experienced team members
  • Promote a team environment and demonstrate support of management decisions and build a positive culture
  • Contribute to the management of the internal tax department through committee membership and group leader responsibilities
  • Perform other responsibilities as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Taxation or Accounting strongly preferred
  • Comprehensive tax planning and consulting experience and demonstrated expertise in taxation and knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated success providing consultative service to high net worth individuals and families
  • Market-leading technical expertise in individual taxation with a strong working knowledge of trust, estate, and gift taxation
  • Ability to effectively present information and appropriately respond to questions from clients and team members
  • Track record of successful new business development experience
  • Excellent analytical, supervisory, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills necessary
  • Experience and continued interest in developing and mentoring junior team members
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred in Accounting, Taxation, or related field
  • 10 years experience in public accounting or related field
  • 10 years supervisory experience
  • Must have CPA or equivalent certification
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments, and prioritize each assignment as necessary
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Proven high level of business integrity, client service, and leadership skills
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs

The annual salary target for this job in this market is $-$. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
