Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Janitor UNION to join our team at Ahtna. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment for our employees and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting of floors, walls, and surfaces.
  • Operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, mops, and floor machines, to maintain a high level of cleanliness.
  • Remove trash and recyclables from the premises and ensure proper disposal.
  • Assist with special projects, such as deep cleaning of carpets and rugs, and cleaning of exterior signs and plaques.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including storage areas and supply closets.
  • Respond to overhead paging system and radio communications in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete weekly checklists and submit to supervisor for review.
  • Report any broken or damaged equipment or facilities to supervisor for repair or maintenance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug testing.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Knowledge of janitorial methods, practices, and safety precautions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in janitorial or facilities maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures and languages.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment

This position involves moderate to heavy work in all types of conditions, including indoor and outdoor environments. The work environment is generally clean and safe, but may require exposure to chemicals, dust, and other hazards.
