Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Baler Operator to join our team at HSM Solutions. As a Baler Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our baler equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Check and identify innersprings to ensure they match the baling ID tag.
  • Move bales into the staging area using a hand cart.
  • Pull bales into the staging area for balers to load onto the baler.
  • Monitor the baler operation to ensure proper functioning and make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on the baler equipment to keep it in good working condition.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Sort and feed materials into the baler according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed, such as sorting materials, operating additional equipment, and completing preclipper inspector roles and responsibilities as requested by the supervisor or filling in on baling as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Work closely with VRC operators and ladder makers.
  • Interact and work well with the baling team.
  • Safely operate all machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment.
  • The supervisor will have the authority to ask you to help with additional job assignments as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma/GED is helpful but not necessary.
  • No previous experience is required.

  • Innersprings can weigh from lbs. each. Must be able to lift up to 200+ lbs. frequently with a partner.
  • A team of balers usually produces between 60-80 bales in a ten-hour shift.
  • Ability to stand, bend at the waist, stretch or reach, walk, and twist frequently.
  • Excellent eye/hand coordination is essential.

  • May be subject to moderate noise from machines in other departments. Hearing protection is required at all times.
  • The temperature in this work area may be in excess of 90 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months.
  • Work areas are dirty and dusty on a regular basis.
  • Bales are under extreme pressure and are extremely dangerous.
  • Ensure that ladders are in good condition before using.
