Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Roadway Worker In Charge to join our team at National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS). As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of our rail infrastructure and providing exceptional service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide jobsite coordination and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and policies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor safety performance and provide guidance and support to field staff.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety risks and develop strategies to prevent accidents and incidents.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement safety training programs and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clear and concise communication with Dispatchers, Train Crews, and other Railroad Personnel to ensure seamless operations.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in railroad safety or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and policies, including 49 CFR 214 Federal Regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time, sometimes month(s) at a time.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain records and reports.
Working Environment

This role operates in a field environment, requiring the ability to work in a variety of settings and conditions.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to hear, speak, read, and write clearly in English.
  • Must be able to drive long distances and/or travel by other modes as necessary.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and/or walk on level/uneven ground.
  • Must be able to see up close, distances, colors and have use of peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme heat/cold temperatures.
  • Must be able to tolerate dusty/noisy conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
