Assignment Duration: 8 weeks
Requirements:
- Must have flexible availability in accordance with the Scheduling Policy.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is mandatory.
- State certification as a Medical Assistant is required or compliance with state certification exceptions.
- A valid driver's license is necessary.
- BLS (AHA) certification is essential.
Responsibilities:
- The Licensed Healthcare Assistant will assist in various fundamental patient care tasks under the guidance of a physician and supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Perform peripheral venipuncture to obtain blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Aid in administering oral medications and injections as directed by the licensed nurse, adhering to state scope of practice regulations.
- Support nurses with EKGs and other diagnostic assessments and clinical procedures as per training and health service protocols.
- Accompany the physician during sick calls to evaluate patients; prepare a list of individuals for examination and set up the examination area and equipment.
- Execute cardiopulmonary resuscitation and manage obstructed airways when necessary.
- Dress and bandage wounds; assist in stabilizing bone and joint injuries.
- Provide oxygen therapy and insert nasal and oral airways as instructed by a licensed nurse.
- Assist with urinary catheter placements.
