Job Summary

The Animal Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and organized Community Adoption Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for identifying, planning, and executing off-site adoption events to increase adoption rates and promote community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue off-site adoption opportunities to increase adoption rates and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Event Manager to determine annual off-site adoption goals, objectives, and strategy.
  • Work closely with the Adoption Team to identify areas with high animal intake and low adoption rates, and develop strategies to build support and awareness in those areas.
  • Conduct research, site visits, and build local relationships to inform off-site adoption event decisions.
  • Coordinate all aspects of off-site adoption events, including scheduling, calendar management, facility needs, inter-departmental communication, volunteer staffing, and on-site event management and problem-solving.
  • Serve as a liaison between community partners and internal departments for off-site adoption events.
  • Prepare proposals, budgets, and progress reports for off-site adoption activities as needed.
  • Adhere to a schedule to ensure proper planning and timing of off-site adoption events, including night and weekend shifts as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stocking of supplies/forms/materials for events and/or on the organization's adoption vehicle.
  • Manage all aspects of animal care and transportation of animals to and from off-site adoption events.
  • Properly clean and disinfect all kennels and adoption areas at event locations throughout the hours of off-site adoption events.
  • Interface with team members, volunteers, and guests at off-site adoption events to present a positive public brand image to the community.
  • Counsel potential adopters through adoptions, educate them on proper animal care if needed, inform them of medical treatment received or needed by chosen pet(s), process adoptions in the Chameleon system, maintain adoption records and paperwork, collect adoption fees, issue receipts, and otherwise complete the adoption process.
  • Conduct post-event analysis and follow-up, including updating event results.
  • Maintain up-to-date SOPs for off-site adoption events and all forms/supplies associated with these events.
  • Provide support for on-site adoption event planning and coordination as needed.
  • Provide information and assistance to internal and external guests as required.
  • Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its guests by offering suggestions and participating as an active team member.
  • Provide responsive, meaningful, and compassionate service to all guests as outlined in the organization's Guest Service Charter.
  • Apply the principles of The Animal Foundation's Core Values toward the goal of bettering self, the organization, and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience coordinating or assisting with special events.
  • The above requirements are minimum. Additional experience may be substituted for education.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

Physical ability and mobility to work in a typical office environment. Strength to lift and/or move materials weighing up to 10 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally. Vision to read printed materials. Stamina to sit and work with a computer for an extended period of time. Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation. Job incumbent is continuously exposed to animals, animal waste, potentially harmful cleaning chemicals, high noise, and potentially hazardous conditions, including the risk of animal bites and occasional work outdoors for extended periods of time while exposed to cold and extremely hot temperatures.
