We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Aide to join our team at Westchester Medical Center. As a Nursing Aide, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and supporting the treatment team in creating a therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct observation and basic physical care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist staff in unit functions and interact with all members of the healthcare team.
- Obtain urine, sputum, stool, and other specimens as required.
- Notify the Registered Nurse of any changes in patient condition.
- Identify significant changes in patient clinical status and communicate with the treatment team.
- Respond to emergency situations by securing assistance.
- Assist in escorting patients to and from diagnostic tests and therapeutic services.
- Meet patient needs for comfort and safety by providing orientation to surroundings.
- Comply with facility policies and procedures to ensure patient equipment, supplies, and personal belongings are protected.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Good knowledge of accepted standards of caring for and comforting the sick, disabled, injured, or others requiring mental health or personal assistance.
- Good knowledge of entry-level medical and psychiatric terminology.
- Skills in customer service, caring for and comforting patients, and directing patient activities.
- Ability to observe and describe facts and events accurately and prepare reports.
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate patient information verbally and in writing.
- Computer literacy sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
