Job Title: Principal Engineer Software

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer Software to join our team in Melbourne, Florida. As a key member of our Global Surveillance Division, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of our program's network architecture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and test software applications and systems that meet logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers to plan, design, develop, and utilize electronic data processing systems.
  • Determine computer user needs and analyze system capabilities to resolve problems.
  • Prepare operating instructions, design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensure software standards are met.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 or more years of experience in software engineering.
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 3 or more years of experience in software engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of network engineer software tools and coding languages.
  • Experience in Systems programming, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS.
  • Development experience with C/C++ or other OOP languages.
  • Experience developing and debugging software in a Linux and Windows environment.
  • Experience with configuration management using industry standard tools and processes.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, plugins, Git, and Confluence.
  • Active certification at DOD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g. Security+) or greater.
  • Clearance: Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access as a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Active DoD secret or Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience with a scripting language (e.g. Bash, Python).
  • Experience with Firewall, VPN, switch, and router configuration.
