Role Summary:

The Clinical Resource Nurse plays a pivotal role in providing clinical assistance across Middlesex Health, supporting various procedures and ensuring optimal recovery for patients within surgical services, including Endoscopy and Interventional Radiology. This RN will also extend support to patients and staff throughout the organization as needed. The ideal candidate will possess experience in Critical Care, Emergency Department, or Surgical Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary recovery nurse
  • Take lead responsibility in assisting with Endoscopy and Interventional Radiology procedures
  • Support clinical staff in the transport of patients with clinical vulnerabilities
  • Coordinate care for patients in unstable conditions
  • Respond promptly to Rapid Response Team/Cardiac Arrest calls when available
  • Identify clinical risk situations and implement strategies to mitigate risks
  • Foster critical thinking among staff to promote positive patient outcomes
  • Perform the insertion of Peripheral IV catheters, PICCs, and midlines
  • Uphold all Core Values (Compassion, Pursuit of Excellence, Cooperation and Collaboration, Integrity, and Support for Innovation)
  • Maintain active communication with the Nursing Supervisor regarding care coordination
  • Adhere to all essential protocols (Privacy and Confidentiality, Professional Appearance, and Commitment to Responsibility).
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Demonstrated Clinical Nursing Expertise
  • Current, unrestricted Nursing License in Connecticut
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in emergency/critical care or surgical services
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Cultural Competence
  • ACLS Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board of Nursing Certification
  • Experience in interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Training in Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Prior experience in PACU/Endoscopy/Interventional Radiology
  • Experience with EKOS/TIPS procedures
