Job Summary

A skilled Master Electrician is needed to join the DelDOT team to perform advanced electrical work, including installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems in various structures throughout the state. The ideal candidate will have a Delaware Master Electrician license or equivalent, as well as experience in performing work in a variety of trades fields, record keeping, and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and inspect electrical current and services for power to supply lighting, air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems.
  • Operate voltage testers, ampmeters, industrial circuit testers, screw gauges, wiring pliers, neon circuit testers, and related testing devices to restore and repair electrical equipment.
  • Install new wiring, maintain existing wiring, and perform maintenance on electric generators, emergency light systems, fire alarm systems, electrical transformers, and signal wiring.
  • Locate and correct power failures and short circuits.
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and layouts to estimate cost and time of projects.
  • Maintain, repair, and replace transformers used for electrical power.
  • Oversee the work of skilled, semi-skilled maintenance, labor, and inmate workforce in performing specific assignments or in a training situation.
  • Maintain security of all tools, supplies, equipment, and assigned inmates, and participate in cell, building, and grounds searches for contraband, weapons, and escapees as required.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Delaware Master Electrician license or equivalent.
  • Six months experience in performing work in a variety of trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
  • Six months experience in record keeping.
  • Six months experience in interpreting blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings.
  • Six months experience in estimating cost, time, and materials for projects.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
