Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Telemetry Specialist to join our team at UPMC. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing continuous cardiac monitoring for patients on telemetry, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation: Interpret cardiac rhythms of patients on in-house telemetry, identifying normal rhythms and recognizing basic arrhythmias.
  • Reporting and Communication: Report changes outside stated parameters to the appropriate nursing unit immediately, maintaining effective inter- and intra-departmental communications.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Provide routine maintenance to telemetry equipment, troubleshooting minor problems and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
  • Education and Training: Instruct staff on nursing units to troubleshoot minor problems, identify own learning needs, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Education: High School graduate or completion of G.E.D.
  • Certifications: Completion of Telemetry/Arrhythmia Course or an accredited agency training facility.
  • Skills: Ability to provide total concentration on a number of monitors over an extended period of time, interpret cardiac rhythm, and respond to emergency situations.
