Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Loader Operator to join our team at Newport Sand & Gravel Co. as a Yard Loader and Equipment Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the loader in a safe and efficient manner, completing maintenance tasks, and ensuring the yard and plant areas are clean and organized.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loader Operation: Safely operate the loader to load and unload materials, and perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintenance: Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks on the loader and yard equipment, including inspections, grease, and cleaning.
  • Yard and Plant Maintenance: Maintain the yard and plant areas, including sweeping, cleaning, and organizing the area.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on the yard truck and loader, including daily pre-trip inspections, weekly grease, and end-of-day fueling and cleaning.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the yard and plant.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a laborer, loader, and 10-wheel dump truck operator.
  • Skills: Excellent defensive driving skills, basic knowledge of equipment, plant, and truck operations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift or maneuver up to 75lbs multiple times throughout the workday, and to work in a physically demanding environment.
