Anning-Johnson Company is seeking a skilled Plastering Specialist to join our team. As a Plastering Specialist, you will be responsible for applying coats of plaster to interior walls, ceilings, and partitions of buildings to produce a finished surface.
Key Responsibilities- Apply coats of plaster to interior walls, ceilings, and partitions of buildings, to produce a finished surface, according to blueprints, architect's drawings, or oral instructions.
- Direct workers to mix plaster to the desired consistency and to erect scaffolds.
- Spread plaster over lath or masonry base, using a trowel, and smooth the plaster with a float to achieve a uniform thickness.
- Apply scratch, brown, or finish coats of plaster to wood, metal, or board lath successively.
- Roughen the undercoat with a scratcher to provide a bond for succeeding coats of plaster.
- Create decorative textures in the finish coat by marking the surface of the coat with a brush and trowel or by spattering the surface with pebbles.
- Mix mortar.
- Install guide wires on the exterior surface of buildings to indicate the thickness of plaster to be applied.
- Install precast ornamental plaster pieces by applying mortar to the back of the pieces and pressing them into place on the wall or ceiling.
- Physically able to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders.
- Ability to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects and materials.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Ability to see well (either naturally or with correction).
Plasterers typically work in a fast-paced environment with precise limits and standards of accuracy. They must be able to work safely and maintain a safe work environment.
