Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant

Mental Health America of South Central Kansas is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant will provide administrative and clinical support to our medical staff, ensuring a high level of quality services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure a high level of quality services provided to clients.
  2. Enter and validate required data in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other required data systems.
  3. Answer multi-line telephone system in a prompt, courteous manner and document phone encounters into EHR.
  4. Schedule client appointments.
  5. Ensure requests are made in a friendly, cooperative manner, as determined by feedback from clients, family members, med providers, and other employees and supervisors.
  6. Operate as a team with co-workers by approaching relationships in a manner which avoids antagonism and reduces conflict.
  7. Attend and participate in meetings and be responsible for all information communicated at meetings.
  8. Actively participate in and encourage actions that promote good public relations with clients, families, and the community.
  9. Ensure proper utilization of supplies and resources.
  10. Obtain clients' vital signs and administer injections to clients and enter results into EHR.
  11. Submit medical claim forms in a timely manner to assist clients and providers.
  12. Assist with discharging medication management clients.
  13. Oversee the processing of medical records requests, insuring HIPPA standards are maintained, and requests are handled timely.
  14. Meet deadlines and ensure accuracy of various report/paperwork, mileage records, and electronic timesheets.
  15. Submit required progress notes/billing information in a timely manner as per agency and insurance guidelines and contracts.
  16. Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
Requirements:
  1. Maintain acceptable overall attendance record, to include department staff meetings, agency meetings, and training as required. Ensure appropriate notification to supervisor for absences and ensure that work is covered. Flexible work schedule when needed.
  2. Exhibit appropriate level of technical knowledge for the position.
  3. Produce quantity of work necessary to meet job requirements.
  4. Work well with a team, keep others informed of information needed. Treat others with respect, maintaining a spirit of cooperation.
  5. Maintain effective and professional verbal and written interactions with peers, customers, supervisors, and other staff. Use diplomacy and tact in dealing with difficult situations or people. Demonstrate effective listening skills. Be receptive to constructive feedback.
  6. Demonstrate the ability and willingness to handle new assignments, changes in procedures, and business requirements. Identify what needs to be done and take appropriate action.
  7. Complete assigned work, meet deadlines without reminders/follow-up from supervisor or others.
  8. Perform work conscientiously with a high degree of accuracy.
  9. Demonstrate analytical ability to evaluate processes and to recommend improvements as necessary.
Requirements:

The Certified Medical Assistant must have a High School graduate or equivalent and at least one-year experience in data entry, customer service, or medical front office. Certified Medical Assistant must also hold a CMA license. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with electronic health records is a plus. Ideal candidate will possess excellent time management and organizational skills.

Sitting for extended periods of time

Typing/data entry, writing

Lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds

Driving for purpose of community mobility

Bending/stooping
