Position SummaryWe are seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of **Senior Test Engineer** specializing in **Energy Storage and Distribution Systems**. In this pivotal position, you will play a key role in the assessment and development of critical components and subsystems essential for our VTOL electric aircraft. Our team is composed of highly skilled, proactive professionals who thrive in a dynamic and rewarding environment, and we are eager to welcome new talent who shares our passion for innovation in transportation.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate closely with Battery Management System (BMS) firmware engineers to conduct verification and validation tests at the battery pack level, assessing battery algorithm performance.
- Design and implement formal test plans and procedures, ensuring that results are reliable and reproducible through appropriate instrumentation and data collection.
- Execute acceptance testing on battery packs intended for flight integration and prepare necessary documentation.
- Work alongside the battery design engineering team and fellow test engineers to perform compliance testing for various environmental conditions, including thermal and humidity cycling, vibration, and electromagnetic interference.
- Conduct long-term durability assessments on the mechanical structure of battery packs.
- Carry out characterization, qualification, and reliability testing on battery pack components, such as contactors and PCBs.
- Analyze test data to generate comprehensive reports, providing actionable insights to the battery design engineering team for design optimization.
- Lead and coordinate test-related meetings, including kickoff, preparation, and data review sessions.
- Maintain an organized and safe battery testing environment, adhering to best practices and documentation standards.
- Assist in the incremental automation of testing setups for battery packs and BMS functionalities.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with experience in battery pack systems.
- Proficiency in working with high-voltage, high-power systems.
- Experience with electric vehicle power electronics systems.
- Familiarity with environmental stress testing methodologies.
- Understanding of battery monitoring techniques and safety protocols for high-voltage systems.
- Strong skills in data analysis and presentation.
- Positive attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Experience with Battery Management Systems hardware.
- Familiarity with testing standards such as DO-160 or MIL-810.
- Knowledge of battery pack cycle testing equipment.
- Experience with high-voltage Lithium-ion battery systems.
- Proficiency in instrumentation and data acquisition tools.
