The Commercial Estimator plays a crucial role in guaranteeing the accuracy and reliability of estimates for new construction and re-roofing projects within our commercial roofing sector. This position involves leading the interpretation of plans and ensuring effective communication with suppliers throughout the process from bid requests to finalized agreements and project implementation.

Your expertise and commitment will be vital in driving our success. We are dedicated to achieving excellence in the roofing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management to develop and document a detailed "target project profile" that will guide our future projects.
  • Work alongside management, the Production team, and suppliers to improve our current pricing structure, integrating relevant material and labor line items into our estimating frameworks for enhanced efficiency.
  • Leverage the pricing structure to create and sustain estimating templates tailored for various commercial roofing systems and applications.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to effectively implement and utilize the aforementioned estimating templates.

  • Actively track commercial bidding opportunities that align with the established "target project profile."
  • Proactively identify additional bidding opportunities through interactions with general contractors, manufacturers, municipalities, and online bidding platforms.

  • Encourage collaboration among all departments and stakeholders to foster positive internal relationships.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors and municipalities.
  • Act as a technical resource and information conduit, working with both sales and production teams to facilitate project reviews, conduct inspections, and ensure effective communication.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with digital takeoff and estimating software (e.g., Stack, Edge, PlanSwift, or equivalents).
  • Thorough understanding of commercial roofing products, components, systems, and assemblies.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; higher education is advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of experience in reading plans/specifications, including reference documents.
  • 3-5 years of experience in researching manufacturer specifications and building code requirements.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial roofing and/or construction estimating.
  • Proficiency in CAD is a plus.
