We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our Hematology Oncology Unit 15P team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. This is a casual nights position, requiring a flexible schedule to meet the needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist and support Professional Registered Nurses in direct and indirect patient care activities.
- Function as a member of the unit staff under the direction and supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse.
- Perform various tasks to ensure a safe and clean environment, including maintaining temperature logs, defrosting and cleaning refrigerators, and restocking supplies.
- Collect and inventory patient belongings on admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively. The Patient Care Technician will be required to stand for long periods, lift patients and equipment, and work in a variety of environments, including patient rooms and hallways.
