Scientific Director for Immunology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease

This position is a key member of the Merck team, focusing on Immunology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. As a Regional Medical Scientific Director, you will be responsible for building relationships with national and regional scientific leaders to ensure access to medical and scientific information on areas of therapeutic interest and Company products.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Immunology (Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Dermatology, or Rheumatology) experience beyond their terminal degree program, with a strong focus on scientific education and dialogue. You will also possess excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills, as well as a thorough comprehension of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and its customers.
In this role, you will engage in bidirectional exchange of scientific or medical information with scientific leaders, providing balanced, factual, scientific information about non-product areas of interest to the Company. You will also serve as a role model for other field medical team members in ways that include onboarding and/or sharing of therapeutic expertise.
You will liaise between the scientific community and the Company to enhance the comprehension of scientific foundations and goals for approved, in-development, and active Company-sponsored trials and/or investigator-sponsored research studies. This will involve developing professional relationships and engaging with national and regional SLs to ensure access to company-approved medical and scientific information on areas of therapeutic interest and Company products.
The salary for this role is estimated to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on location and experience. The position offers flexible work arrangements, including remote work options, and a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities
- Develop professional relationships and engage with national and regional SLs to ensure access to company-approved medical and scientific information on areas of therapeutic interest and Company products.
- Serve as a role model for other field medical team members in ways that include onboarding and/or sharing of therapeutic expertise.
- Liaise between the scientific community and the Company to enhance the comprehension of scientific foundations and goals for approved, in-development, and active Company-sponsored trials and/or investigator-sponsored research studies.
- Maintain current knowledge and comprehension of dynamic scientific and clinical environment in the Company's Areas of Interest (AOI) for your specific therapeutic area.
Requirements
- PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD degree.
- Proven competence and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant Immunology (Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Dermatology, or Rheumatology) experience beyond that obtained in the terminal degree program.
- Principled verbal and written communications.
- Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders.
- Dedication to scientific excellence with a strong focus on scientific education and dialogue.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
- Thorough comprehension of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and its customers.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional experience in Immunology Rheumatology and/or Dermatology.
- Field-based medical experience.
- Research Experienced.
- Demonstrated record of scientific/medical publication.
