Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Family Engagement Coordinator to join our team at Friends of the Children. This role is central to fostering connections between families and community resources, enhancing community education, and promoting trauma-informed practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Community and Family Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with community partners and client families, facilitating connections to community resources and services tailored to family needs.
  • Trauma-Informed and Resilience Training: Design and conduct training programs on trauma-informed care and caregiver resilience, ensuring these practices are embedded within all organizational programs and interactions.
  • Campaign Development: Create and implement trauma-informed campaigns to raise awareness and educate the community about trauma-informed practices and their benefits, evaluating the effectiveness of these campaigns and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Event Coordination: Plan, coordinate, and execute family events and Caregiver Café mini-events to promote engagement and community building.
  • Program Participation: Actively contribute to the Program Leadership Team, offering insights and solutions to address programmatic and organizational challenges.
  • Resource Development: Identify and establish new community partnerships, discovering and assisting families in accessing scholarship opportunities and additional resources.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication regarding organizational policies, issues, and procedures, addressing and resolving concerns promptly and professionally.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience: Minimum of five years working or volunteering with children, including significant experience in training on trauma-informed practices and caregiver resilience.
  • Expertise in Trauma-Informed Practices: Proven experience in developing and executing trauma-informed training programs and campaigns, with the ability to integrate these principles into organizational practices effectively.
  • Campaign Creation: Experience in creating educational campaigns and materials related to trauma-informed care, with the ability to measure and assess the impact of these campaigns.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to manage conflicts and guide others effectively.
  • Cultural Competence: Experience working with Indigenous communities and incorporating Indigenous knowledge into programming, with the ability to engage respectfully with tribal nations and communities.
  • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills with experience in managing multiple tasks, guiding teams, and making informed decisions.
  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
  • A sense of humor is a plus.
Salary and Benefits:
  • Salary: $47,500+ DOE
  • Benefits: 21 days paid time off, 14 paid holidays, health, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance.
