Aircraft Painter II Job Description

Job Summary:

The Aircraft Painter II is responsible for safely preparing, painting, and detailing aircraft according to schedule using company quality standards and operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Aircraft Preparation: Safely perform aircraft preparation, painting, and detailing of aircraft under minimal supervision.
  2. Tool and Equipment Operation: Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as dual action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms, and paint sprayers.
  3. Chemical Handling: Follow standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers, and corrosion-preventive chemicals and use protective equipment as required.
  4. Safety and Compliance: Comply with safety rules and procedures and be alert for unsafe conditions. Address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk.
  5. Material Tracking: Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and to sign-off work.
  6. Aircraft Movement: Assist with aircraft movement in hangars.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Offer continuous improvement ideas/participate in continuous improvement activities.
Requirements:
  1. Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  2. Tool and Equipment Operation: Able to use tools and equipment associated with the aircraft painting process.
  3. Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  4. Respirator Certification: Able to pass Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification.
  5. Physical Demands: Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
  6. Computer Literacy: Must be computer literate.
  7. Paint Process Knowledge: Working knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics) is necessary.
