Perioperative Nurse

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Perioperative Nurse to join our team at the Surgery Center of Fairbanks, LLC. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our ambulatory surgery center.
Responsibilities:
- Participate as a team member in support of the total perioperative process.
- Organize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management.
- Supervise and direct patient care in a single operating room.
- Organize nursing activities efficiently and effectively.
- Delegate activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members.
- Consider cost containment by using supplies economically and in effective turnover time.
- Assist with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability.
- Address patient needs during admission to the operating room, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting.
- Transport patients to the operating room observing policies/procedures, safety requirements, and patient needs.
- Identify the patient and correct surgical intervention according to policy/procedure and communicate such information to all members of the surgical team.
- Review patients' medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team members.
- Provide comfort and reassurance to patient.
- Maintain patients' privacy and dignity.
- Explain intraoperative phase of routine procedures and care to the patient.
- Perform the circulating nurse's role and functions following approved operating room procedures to meet the requirements of scheduled procedures.
- Prepare operating room according to requirements of patient/procedure to be performed.
- Assemble and provide properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure and positions and adjusts equipment as required during the procedure.
- Anticipate needs of surgical team and assist anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesia.
- Assist with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares operative site as directed by established procedures.
- Monitor compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standards.
- Assist with identification and confirmation of operative site.
- Provide for comfort in the physical environment by monitoring designated parameters.
- Provide continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordingly.
- Respond in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician.
- Accurately comprehend and interpret verbal orders/directions.
- Document patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and procedures.
- Accurately advise others responsible for care of the patient about patient's status.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED certificate recipient.
- Graduate of accredited school in nursing.
- RN with active Alaska license.
- CPR certified.
- Leadership qualities.
- Strong ethical and moral character references.
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English.
