About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Perioperative Nurse to join our team at the Surgery Center of Fairbanks, LLC. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our ambulatory surgery center.

Responsibilities:

  1. Participate as a team member in support of the total perioperative process.
  2. Organize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management.
  3. Supervise and direct patient care in a single operating room.
  4. Organize nursing activities efficiently and effectively.
  5. Delegate activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members.
  6. Consider cost containment by using supplies economically and in effective turnover time.
  7. Assist with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability.
  8. Address patient needs during admission to the operating room, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting.
  9. Transport patients to the operating room observing policies/procedures, safety requirements, and patient needs.
  10. Identify the patient and correct surgical intervention according to policy/procedure and communicate such information to all members of the surgical team.
  11. Review patients' medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team members.
  12. Provide comfort and reassurance to patient.
  13. Maintain patients' privacy and dignity.
  14. Explain intraoperative phase of routine procedures and care to the patient.
  15. Perform the circulating nurse's role and functions following approved operating room procedures to meet the requirements of scheduled procedures.
  16. Prepare operating room according to requirements of patient/procedure to be performed.
  17. Assemble and provide properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure and positions and adjusts equipment as required during the procedure.
  18. Anticipate needs of surgical team and assist anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesia.
  19. Assist with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares operative site as directed by established procedures.
  20. Monitor compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standards.
  21. Assist with identification and confirmation of operative site.
  22. Provide for comfort in the physical environment by monitoring designated parameters.
  23. Provide continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordingly.
  24. Respond in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician.
  25. Accurately comprehend and interpret verbal orders/directions.
  26. Document patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and procedures.
  27. Accurately advise others responsible for care of the patient about patient's status.

Requirements:

  1. High school graduate or GED certificate recipient.
  2. Graduate of accredited school in nursing.
  3. RN with active Alaska license.
  4. CPR certified.
  5. Leadership qualities.
  6. Strong ethical and moral character references.
  7. Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English.
