Position Overview

The Director of Culinary Services is accountable for ensuring the delivery of exceptional food service and nutritional care to our valued customers, including residents, guests, and client members. The primary objective is to consistently create a remarkable dining experience for all individuals served.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of HearthStone Hospitality through exemplary food service.
  • Welcome all patients, families, and visitors with a warm and positive demeanor.
  • Oversee food production, ensuring adherence to standardized recipes and quality checks for flavor, temperature, and presentation.
  • Guarantee optimal nutrition in food preparation, considering the diverse needs of various patient age groups.
  • Assess and determine the quality and quantity of food required, plan and prepare master menus, and manage costs effectively.
  • Conduct personalized dietary assessments for each patient to ensure appropriate daily menu preparations.
  • Plan menus, procure food supplies, and assign responsibilities for special events.
  • Enhance the skills of the Food Service and Nutrition team through training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Establish performance standards, delegate responsibilities, and ensure accountability among staff members.
  • Encourage professional development through participation in educational programs and workshops.
  • Collaborate with other departments regarding the technical and administrative aspects of dietary services.
  • Regularly evaluate personnel performance and adhere to standard procedures for personnel management.
  • Maintain monthly inventory controls and prepare departmental budgets, including detailed reports on food preparation and costs.
  • Conduct inspections of all work areas to ensure compliance with dietary regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for supply handling, sanitation, and recordkeeping.
  • Review departmental performance and recommend changes to improve service efficiency and compliance.

Professional Requirements

  • Adhere to a professional dress code and maintain a neat appearance.
  • Complete all annual educational requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability in attendance.
  • Wear identification while on duty and represent the organization positively.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in managing food services, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of food service and nutritional management.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize effectively.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work irregular hours, including on-call shifts.
  • Capable of handling a physically demanding and high-stress environment.
  • Possible exposure to various health and safety risks.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
