Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will work with multidisciplinary project teams to provide electrical engineering and technical expertise for industrial processing, power, mining, and fuels facilities. This role involves integrating process, mechanical, and control requirements into comprehensive electrical systems. Tasks will include detailed design to support electrical installations in the power, mining, and hydroelectric sectors. The successful candidate will assist teams with proposal development, including defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and analyze electrical systems for industrial facilities
• Prepare plans and specifications, reports, and cost estimates
• Develop bill-of-materials and wiring and schematic diagrams
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure electrical systems meet client needs
• Manage projects, provide technical leadership, and mentor less-experienced staff

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with coursework focused on power or control systems
• At least 5 years of related experience in a design capacity on projects related to the job responsibilities
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments
• Computer skills and familiarity with AutoCAD, Excel, and Word
• Ability to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes such as power plants, petroleum refining, mining, and/or minerals processing
• Demonstrated project organization and management skills
• Strong client-relationship and business-development skills
• Knowledge and skills related to PLC and HMI programming and commissioning
• Knowledge and experience related to piping and instrumentation diagram
• Knowledge and experience related to electrical installations in hazardous areas

Work Environment:

This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. The successful candidate will be required to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided.
