Engineering and Maintenance Operations Manager

The successful applicant will possess a minimum of five years of practical experience as a Plant Maintenance/Engineering Manager within a food manufacturing setting, demonstrating robust technical expertise in production machinery, pneumatics, hydraulics, refrigeration, electrical systems, and associated equipment. A proven history of leadership, program management, and effective communication skills is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team to ensure facility upkeep, repairs, preventative maintenance, and compliance with stormwater regulations; liaise with vendors, manage RFP processes, and oversee work orders and budgets.
- Direct all administrative and operational tasks related to plant maintenance, machine repairs, and inspections.
- Establish and maintain a routine inspection and maintenance schedule for all fluid processing machinery, conveyor systems, refrigeration units, and other relevant plant equipment.
- Maintain accurate business records pertinent to the operational and administrative requirements of the facility and plant.
- Keep updated blueprints of facilities, utility layouts, and technical manuals for machinery and refrigeration systems for operational reference.
- Lead, mentor, and manage employees in alignment with the organization's policies and legal requirements.
- Supervise the fabrication and manufacturing of equipment to meet production demands, ensuring compliance with safety regulations for product and process piping, sanitary equipment, and related systems.
- Document all changes to schematics and diagrams to ensure current plant records.
- Ensure adherence to all aspects of the Preventive Service Maintenance (PSM) program.
- Distribute tasks, monitor progress, and ensure the accuracy and completion of assigned work.
- Draft, update, and maintain standard operating procedures and instruction manuals for departmental repairs and maintenance.
Required Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, strong mathematical and statistical skills, proficient computer skills for data entry, report generation, and program tracking, along with excellent organizational and follow-through capabilities.
Physical Requirements: The role necessitates regular use of hands for handling and manipulating equipment; the ability to communicate effectively; and sensory capabilities including taste and smell. The employee will frequently stand and walk, with occasional crawling, squatting, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and balancing. Lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds may be required. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The employee will regularly encounter cold, wet, and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and moderate to high noise levels in the work environment.
