POSITION SUMMARY:

This role involves manual labor within the City's Municipal Parking Garages. Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Public Parking, the employee will patrol all garages, ensuring a secure environment during evening and weekend hours. This position is classified as "essential personnel," requiring readiness to respond to emergencies as necessary. Work hours are primarily during evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commence patrols by collecting the City vehicle from the designated parking facility. Conduct hourly checks via hand-held radio with the City Switchboard while patrolling.
  • Engage with customers, providing assistance as needed, including helping them navigate the parking facilities and offering directions.
  • Perform minor repairs on payment machines and related equipment.
  • Regularly operate a vehicle while adhering to legal and defensive driving standards.
  • Occasionally place "No Parking" signs on adjacent streets as directed by the Parking Department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED);
    And
  • Three months of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Proficient in writing basic correspondence and effectively presenting information in small group settings.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Valid Maryland Driver's License in good standing.
Physical Demands

While executing job duties, the employee will frequently move about the assigned parking area, either on foot or in a vehicle. Occasional sitting, balancing, and hand use is required.
