We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MOHS Histotechnologist to contribute to the success of our pathology laboratory at Burnett Dermatology. The MOHS Histotech will play a crucial role in processing and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination, assisting our dermatopathologists in diagnosing skin diseases, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory results.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine histology procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and cover slipping.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, embedding stations, and staining machines.
  • Prepare histological slides for microscopic examination by dermatopathologists, ensuring high-quality and consistent results.
  • Assist dermatopathologists during grossing procedures and provide technical support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of specimen processing, tracking, and documentation according to regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and quality control standards to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and dermatologists to prioritize and manage workload effectively.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, troubleshooting, and problem-solving to optimize laboratory processes and workflow efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Histotechnology, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Histotechnologist (HT) or Histotechnician (HTL) by ASCP or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a histology laboratory setting, preferably in dermatopathology.
  • Proficiency in histology techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and digital pathology platforms is a plus.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Excellent Benefit Package Includes:
