Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Exercise Instructor to join our team at the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas. As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will be responsible for leading and teaching group exercise classes, creating a safe and effective exercise environment, and delivering an outstanding member experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and teach group exercise classes, including choreographing routines and ensuring equipment and supplies are accessible.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of exercise physiology, kinesiology, injury prevention, and cardiovascular and medical considerations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment for members.
  • Collaborate with staff to promote a positive and inclusive culture.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on YMCA policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Nationally recognized Group Exercise certification.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certification.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including walking, standing, and bending.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
