The RN Educator/WOC Nurse plays a crucial role in enhancing the knowledge, skills, and practices of nursing staff through a structured educational design process aimed at addressing identified gaps in care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the subject matter expert in the management of patients with wounds, ostomies, and incontinence.
- Facilitate the professional growth of nursing colleagues and advocate for continuous learning as they navigate various educational and professional settings.
- Implement a systematic approach to transition individuals and teams from their current capabilities to desired outcomes, effectively closing performance gaps.
- Utilize diverse educational technologies to meet learning and performance requirements, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration.
- Lead the execution of projects and educational initiatives, rigorously assessing their impact on organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution; a master's degree in nursing is preferred.
- Current licensure as an RN or APRN in New York.
- At least 5 years of experience in a nursing role as an RN or APRN.
- BCLS and ACLS certifications are advantageous.
- WOCNCB Certification is preferred; WTA-C or similar certifications will be considered.
- Proficient understanding of supplies, vendors, and durable medical equipment related to wound and ostomy care.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
- Strong organizational, research, and mentoring abilities.
- Willingness to provide education at times and locations that accommodate nursing staff availability.
This position entails:
- Providing education to nurses with diverse educational backgrounds and experiences to meet clinic requirements.
- Instructing patients and families with varying levels of understanding and knowledge.
- Encouraging collaborative teamwork between inpatient and outpatient wound and ostomy care teams.
- Working closely with physicians, residents, and case managers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Staying updated with the latest research and advancements in the field to enhance teaching methods.
- Collaborating with administrative and educational departments to effectively plan, organize, and deliver training to nursing staff and clinical educators.
