Radiation Safety and Protection Expert

Plexus Scientific is seeking a Radiation Safety and Protection Expert to provide operational and technical support to our government, biotechnology research, educational, and industrial clients that utilize radioactive material and other radiation sources.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide radiation protection support at job sites
  • Prepare and implement radiation safety policies, plans, and procedures
  • Perform radiation surveys and support licensing and audits
  • Manage dosimetry and instrument programs, training, and other related services

Key Objectives:

  • Prevent or minimize exposure to onsite personnel, the surrounding public, and the environment
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations

Work Assignments:

  • Serve as site radiation safety officer (RSO) for temporary and longer-term projects
  • Assist with the development and implementation of work plans for radiological surveys, instrument operation, and data collection
  • Perform audits and inspections, environmental monitoring, sampling, and analysis during site investigations and remediation

Requirements:

  • Formal training in radiation protection topics, including physics of radiation, radiation's interaction with matter, and biological effects of radiation
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, including those of the NRC, EPA, DOE, OSHA, DOT, and DoD
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience in preparing technical reports in the area of health physics, radiation safety program management, and regulatory compliance
