The Office of the President at a prestigious university is in search of a talented, innovative, and diligent professional to assist with a wide array of communication and research initiatives on behalf of the President and Vice President. Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Affairs, this individual will collaborate closely with senior leadership on various writing assignments, contributing to the development of speeches, reports, presentations, videos, statements, articles, correspondence, and other essential materials.
This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in diverse projects at the highest levels of university administration.
Key Responsibilities- Support the creation of speeches, introductions, letters, presentations, and other written materials, ensuring the highest quality through thorough research, meticulous fact-checking, writing, editing, and collaboration with various offices and individuals both within and outside the institution.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Office of the President to ensure timely completion of writing projects.
- Conduct research related to speaking engagements, events, strategic initiatives, and other activities.
- In partnership with colleagues across the university, craft communications that effectively engage and respond to a variety of audiences and stakeholders with differing perspectives.
- Provide staffing support at on-campus events where the President is addressing attendees.
- Handle sensitive assignments with discretion, exercising sound editorial judgment while maintaining the trust and confidence of senior administrators.
- Ensure the accuracy of all facts and details in speeches, statements, and quotes issued on behalf of the President.
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive, and timely content in the President's voice on a wide range of topics related to the university and higher education.
- Proven ability to comprehend complex issues and simplify them for key audiences.
- Willingness to meet the President's expectations for writing style and content, with a readiness to accept and respond to feedback efficiently.
- High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and respect; ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Strong research abilities and a keen attention to grammatical and factual details.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Outstanding organizational skills, capable of managing multiple deadlines and tasks effectively.
- Excellent copyediting and proofreading capabilities.
- 1-3 years of professional writing experience.
- Familiarity with the higher education landscape.
- Experience in writing for diverse audiences.
This position is designed for a term of two years, with the possibility of extension.
