Veterinary Nurse: Emergency And Critical Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team in the Emergency and Critical Care unit at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our veterinarians and other staff members.
Responsibilities- Assist with the care and management of critically ill patients
- Perform technical tasks such as catheter placement, radiography, and sedation
- Communicate effectively with clients and other healthcare team members
- Document patient information and charges in a timely and accurate manner
- Participate in on-call shifts and rotating weekends
- Assist with training and mentoring of less experienced staff and students
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a critical care/emergency technician
- Excellent technical skills and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to function calmly in stressful situations
- Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks
- CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician or eligible to obtain Wisconsin licensure within 12 months
- Associate's Degree or higher
Expected schedule is 10:00am-8:00pm weekdays, 7:00am - 5:00pm every other weekend, with rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
SalaryMinimum $22.00 HOURLY, depending on qualifications.
Additional InformationThis position is posted at Vet Tech levels 1, 2 and 3. Level and pay are commensurate with experience.
