Job Title: Mental Health Clinician

The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

Job Summary:

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will be responsible for providing mental health evaluation and therapeutic intervention to patients. You will work under the supervision of a Psychologist, Mental Health Manager, and/or Program Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the success of the UTMB Correctional Managed Care operation.
  • Interview, evaluate, and diagnose patients identified as having mental health needs.
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
  • Develop, implement, and review Individual Treatment Plans.
  • Assist with training and education of mental health, medical, and other staff.
  • Assist in the implementation of Quality Improvement/Quality Management (QI/QM) programs and the monitoring of compliance with required policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide routine consultation and communication with supervisor and/or attending psychiatric provider regarding the status of assigned patients.
  • Complete clinically appropriate and timely documentation.
  • Liaise with patients, patient families, on-site departments, and community agencies to coordinate current treatment and/or facilitate aftercare services.
  • Adhere to internal controls established for the department.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, or Social Worker.
  • Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
