Salary: The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Job Description:

The Software Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers in the design, development, and deployment of software solutions. This includes:

  • Reviewing product architectural design requirements and specifications.
  • Conducting technical assessments of the impact of changes to product requirements.
  • Engaging in design, coding, unit testing, and code review as needed.
  • Designing, configuring, debugging, and deploying software within scheduled timeframes.
  • Providing day-to-day technical guidance to other members of the project team.
  • Highlighting, reviewing, and mitigating technical risks.
  • Resolving technical issues in conjunction with team members.
  • Determining and/or approving estimates for development tasks.
  • Providing the project team with support and guidance on project-specific processes, procedures, tools, and techniques.
  • Serving as the technical point of contact with Testing and Documentation, responsible for delivering required technical information.
  • Ensuring that designs, code, and unit tests are consistent, robust, and scalable.
  • Delegating tasks to organize, mentor, and motivate a team of resources.
  • Contributing to the continued improvement of the organization's development procedures by identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of technology and instilling the principles of this culture in a team of resources.
  • FOLLOWING and ensuring team adherence to organizational policies and procedures framework.
  • Identifying technology training requirements.
  • Working with the Director in the development and administration of the departmental budget.
  • Serving as a steward of process improvement initiatives.
  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Being responsible for interviewing potential candidates, hiring, training, overseeing daily activities, and conducting performance appraisals of employees.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 8 years of experience with programming (Java, .NET, C, Python, VB, Angular).
  • 5 years of experience with Laboratory Information Systems Software (Sunquest Labs, Epic, Beaker, Cerner Millennium, McKesson Lab SoftLab, Orchard Harvest LIS).
  • 5 years of experience with people leadership.
