Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Seaboard Marine is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on diesel engines and fuel, brake, and transmission systems to ensure peak performance, safety, and longevity of the equipment.
  • Inspect, analyze, test, measure, repair, and perform full or partial overhauls on any of the assemblies and sub-assemblies of heavy-duty Diesel engines and gas-powered equipment.
  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Corrects equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
Requirements:
  • Full diesel mechanic - minimum two (2) years of experience diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling diesel engines.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems components - turbo, fuel injection, A/C, EGR, pumps, alternator, starter, drive train, etc.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine assembly practices, specifications, and procedures involved in maintenance repairs and replacement.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing air conditioning systems.
  • Effective analytical skills and the ability to identify problems quickly.
  • Ability to read and interpret automotive diagrams, schematics, and reference manuals.
  • Experience and ability to use common hand and power tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic Electrical Certification.
  • Experience repairing, maintaining, and overhauling Cummins diesel engines.
  • Experienced diagnosing and troubleshooting Allison Transmissions.
  • Heating and Air Conditioning Certification for Auto/Light Truck (ASE).
  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Certification for Medium/Heavy Truck (ASE).
Working Conditions:
  • The work is performed primarily in the shop/outdoors; exposed to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts.
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
