Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the preparation of the sterile field for surgical operations, including staffing and work assignments.
  • Implement and update policies, procedures, and protocols to streamline workflow and improve efficiency.
  • Directly support the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating surgeons' needs.
  • Ensure treatment is provided in a manner consistent with best practices, accreditation standards, and State and Federal regulations.
  • Manage and maintain aseptic technique at all times.
  • Prioritize and delegate assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve department objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Work autonomously and as part of the team, accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve complex issues that arise with little or no precedent.
  • Ensure the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI).
  • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
  • Identify principles and demonstrate techniques of disinfection, sterilization, and environmental control measures.
Requirements
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or Military training as a scrub tech
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • 4 years of recent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated expertise of surgical tools, procedures, views, and equipment
  • In-depth understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline
  • Broad knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team is essential. The successful candidate will be able to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve department objectives and meet deadlines.
