Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing quality services to special education students in a K-2 setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans in consultation with parents and department team members
  • Support students with a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities
  • Design instruction that parallels the general education curriculum
  • Collaborate with parents, administrators, and other professionals to develop educational plans
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities
  • Coordinate individualized education program (IEP) implementation with general education staff
  • Monitor student progress and participate in review and revision of student's IEP
  • Maintain accurate student records
  • Mentor and support teaching assistants
  • Assess students' skills and educational needs
  • Communicate with parents and other teachers
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid state teaching certificate
  • Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1)
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program
  • Current CPR and TB Questionnaire
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
