Job Title: Collections Management Archivist

Job Summary:

This is an entry-level professional position responsible for providing archival services to a variety of patrons. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing archival records, providing reference services, and supporting archival and public services.

Responsibilities:

  • Process archival records, including documents, photographs, and other materials.
  • Provide reference services to patrons in person, by telephone, or email.
  • Support archival and public services, including performing certifications of original documents, retrieving and shelving collections, and creating digital scans of materials.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree required.
  • Three classes in archives and/or certificate from Georgia Archives Institute preferred.
  • One or more years of related experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of reference service principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of currently accepted archival practices.
  • Skills in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Skills in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skills in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to operate a variety of software programs.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task.
