Job Summary

As a Plant Operations Technician at Targa Resources, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our natural gas plant and pipeline equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical equipment, process optimization, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the operation of natural gas plant and pipeline equipment, including treating plants, reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, and gas measurement equipment.
  • Monitor plant and pipeline operations, responding to emergency or upset conditions, and implementing safe work practices to ensure the safety of employees, the public, and the environment.
  • Assist with monitoring of gas gathering systems through SCADA and notify plant supervisors of situations that could affect gas deliveries.
  • Read, monitor, and record various operating conditions, such as pressures, temperatures, hours of operation, fuel consumed, water levels, and other relevant data.
Requirements
  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work overtime and respond to call-outs as needed
  • Adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-year vocational training in the oil and gas industry
  • 2 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically in midstream gas plant operations
  • Knowledge of gas and liquid measurement
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions
  • Ability to work in close quarters, including kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
