Percussion Educator

We are currently seeking a dedicated Percussion Educator to join our dynamic team at the Irvine School of Music. This part-time role offers an exciting opportunity to engage with students of various ages and skill levels in a supportive and creative environment.

This position involves teaching percussion instruments, with an existing schedule of 4 hours on Fridays, along with the potential for additional teaching days and hours. We prioritize candidates who can also instruct beginner piano, although this is not a strict requirement.

We are looking for passionate and qualified music instructors to accommodate our expanding student base and become part of our enthusiastic and innovative teaching staff.

The starting pay ranges from $26 to $32 per hour, with opportunities for increases based on student retention. Initially, instructors may begin with 2-3 teaching days, with hours typically scheduled from Monday to Friday between 2 PM and 9 PM, and weekends from 9 AM to 5 PM.

We ensure that all instructors are compensated for all scheduled lessons, regardless of student attendance, as maintaining a consistent schedule and income for our educators is a priority. We also provide professional development opportunities through pedagogy training.

• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Music or enrollment in a related program.
• Ability to commute as necessary.
• Successful completion of a Federal Background Check.
• Fluency in English.
• Passion for pedagogy and familiarity with reputable teaching materials.
• A minimum one-year commitment for non-substitute roles.

• Experience teaching children aged 5 and up, from beginner to advanced levels.
• Experience in both private and group class settings, with a willingness to teach in both formats.
• Familiarity with various musical styles, including Jazz, Rock, Folk, and Pop, in addition to Classical.
• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Interest in working with young children in early childhood programs.
• Experience with students who have learning disabilities.
• Experience teaching advanced-level students.

Teaching hours are flexible, with opportunities available throughout the week and weekends.
