Job Summary
As a Pipelayer Journeyman at TIC - The Industrial Company, you will play a critical role in planning, laying out, installing, testing, and repairing all types of underground piping systems in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and select the necessary parts and components of piping systems for installation
• Align and set pipe on grade using precision levels and lasers, cutting, fitting, and connecting pipe using seal joints, cement, glue, or other mechanical fittings
• Grade and level trench bases using tamping equipment and hand tools, ensuring accurate and safe installation
• Dig trenches to the desired depth, install pipe components, and cover/backfill with earth or other materials, maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities, as well as determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform work activities
• Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, pointing out deficiencies and explaining corrective actions needed
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field or a related area
• Strong working knowledge skills and abilities for the position
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools, as well as measurement tools
• Meet all physical requirements, including climbing and working at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, and be prepared to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, performing other duties as required
